What happens if Sorbact gets wet? Does it affect its effectiveness?
Sorbact is designed for a wet environment, in fact it needs moisture. Water aids hydrophobic bonding because it is hydrophilic. This causes the hydrophobic particles to adhere to each other, binding them together. This reduces the surface area between the hydrophobic and hydrophilic particles. Even under Leukomed Sorbact there is very little moisture to ensure the hydrophobic bond. (However, if the packaging gets wet, the product is no longer sterile and cannot be used).
