Can Sorbact be used for all stages of wound healing?
Sorbact is indicated for clean, colonised, contaminated and infected wounds. The key indication is management of the bacterial load. As a result, Sorbact is particularly indicated in the early stages of wound healing in chronic wounds. Necrotic and infected stages are the main indications. In necrotic wounds, debridement is strongly recommended and Cutimed Sorbact gel combines autolytic debridement and infection management. In the granulation stage, Sorbact can control the bacterial load and prevent infection. When the wound is ephithelialised, the wound is closed and Sorbact is not helpful. The wound is tight and infection is less likely. In acute wounds, Leukomed Sorbact is the product of choice to reduce the risk of surgical site infection.
